Chelsea's Calling

The Hounds Below

With an upbeat, gritty rock sound that recalls The Strokes and The Walkmen, The Hounds Below sound more New York than their native Michigan. “Chelsea’s Calling” is “a swaggering garage rock number that balances pop hooks with rollicking grit.” The song’s off of You Light Me Up In The Dark, the group’s DIY debut album.

Jason Stollsteimer, lead singer of The Von Bondies, has kicked off his side project The Hounds Below.  Its a croonin’ groovin’ ensemble with hints of Roy Orbison and a douse of Johnny Cash.  Love it. Jason’s vocals are absolutely amazing in this song. You can download two more Hounds Below tracks from Last.fm as well.

Columbus folk: Jason Stollsteimer and my friend Tracey are throwing a joint birthday show extravaganza. The Hounds Below will be making their Columbus debut with local bands The Lost Revival, The Spruce Campbells, and Love Culture. RSVP to the party on Facebook here.

This is a band that I work pretty closely with. The lead singer is Jason Stollsteimer from the Von Bondies, and this new band kicks just as much ass.

That was so much fun.

Ahhhhh that was an amazing concert. Met two of the members from The Airborne Toxic Event and two guys from the opening band, The Hounds Below. Amazing night.
