Firstly, what a great name. Seems a bit like ignorance is bliss. Well actually it’s taken from Alexander Popes poem Eloisa to Abelard. Where forgetfulness becomes the woman’s only comfort.
How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d;
But secondly what an amazing story line. Starting at a point in a relationship were the partners seem to hate each other. Then they choose to forget each other. But to forget they have to remember all their memories. Which makes them remember why they loved each other. That’s just an amazing journey. It makes you remember that to love someone at some point there must have been some pretty amazing things happen. It makes you wonder weather if you had the chance, would you choose to completely forget a person that you once loved but now hate?
And thirdly, its filmed so brilliantly. The colours are so natural and flowing (apart from Clementines hair and fashion in general) and the way its filmed just seems really natural. As if it’s barely been edited at all, just been filmed by someone with an artistic mind. It seems to fit so well with the characters, the semi awkward but completely normal-ness of them.
Basically I absolutely loved that film. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
Oh yeah! And Jim Carrey doesn’t play Jim Carrey. Crazy!
“ the mind is like a file cabinet for the information we retain & the memories that we keep . the mind is a place the creativity is created & the home of cinema where our dreams are projected. but what if there were ideas & memories that we would like to forget , forget the harmful memories that scar us & the loved ones that discarded us . what if we had a chance to eliminate the double grief of a lost bliss & embrace the eternal sunshine of a spotless mind " ”
