The Long WintersThe NASA space shuttle program defunding just kinda registered with me this morning when I was thinking my thought things on the train trip to work.
I always wanted to be an astronaut. Not for real - I’m not gifted with the maths and sciences - but that thought of exploding into the weird scariness that is outer space is something I’ve dreamt about constantly.
I’m gunna go eat some dippin dots today.
(By the way, this is my favorite song about someone dying in a rocketship explosion)

The Long WintersTen years ago, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. All seven crew members onboard STS-107 died as their orbiter fell apart, piece by piece. While NASA suspected some damage may have occurred during their liftoff, they determined that there was nothing they could’ve done to prevent any of this from happening. This is a song for today.
