Can Town Project -- Sakura Con 2013?
Most everyone in the Homestuck community knows what The Can Town Project is, and I was thinking, what if we brought this to Sakura Con 2013? It’s been done at cons before with staff support, so why not? :3 Please like or reblog this to show your support, and if you’re interested in helping, message me. If this gets enough attention and I know enough people would participate, I’ll contact the SCon staff. Together we can try to make this official for Sakura Con 2013!

I just happened to have a post roll across my dash mentioning something about this and when I looked it up I found something really neat!
This is an explanation as to what the Can Town Project idea is from their tumblr:
“Every Homestuck fan knows about Can Town. The Can Town Project is something I decided to put together to help local communities. What goes down is that if you have a Homestuck meet up you ask the people to bring canned goods. Once you have them, you all make a town, take a picture (with or with out the group), submit the picture and give the goods to your local food bank.”
I think this is a fun idea that needs more attention! I’d love to get people together to do this at NYCC (if I go that is, or not!) and donate to the NYC Food Bank. Heck, even a meet-up in my area would be nice and we could donate to an organization in my county. I know people who would know where to send the food.
But yes! If you are planning a meet up or going to a meet up I highly recommend you bring this up! Canned goods are inexpensive; you might even have a can sitting around your house that you won’t use otherwise, so why waste it?
So yes! Whether I go to NYCC and see if anyone will participate in this with me or I get a meet up together in my area (WHICH IS PROBABLY NOT GONNA HAPPEN I’M TOO SHY AND I DON’T EVEN HAVE A COSTUME AHH-) I would n=love to do this! And I’d love to see more people doing this in general!
