THE LOVERS' SUICIDE!
The Bilinda ButchersThe Bilinda Butchers - The Lovers’ Suicide
One of my favorite San Francisco duos just dropped a fantastic new single, inspired by the short story “A Street Singer” by Lafcadio Hearn. Who doesn’t love a little literary pop now and again, eh?
They’ll be cutting this song into wax for delivery on March 5th as both a 7” on BEKO but aslo on CD on Zoom Lens.

Last year I posted about this young San Francisco dream pop duo, The Bilinda Butchers, and was eagerly hoping to hear more from them. It only took about 9 months, but now these dudes are close to dropping an EP and just sent me the first single “Boyfriend.” The track definitely continues the style I was expecting more of…soft-vocals and a catchy beat that make you drift off into lens-flared, warm memories of your (hopefully) innocent youth. Anything to forget it’s Monday right? Stay tuned for more from these guys.

The Bilinda Butchers - Secrets

A conversation between two hollow things, whose cavities are tender in excess of secret things. A hushed duet who needs few words to mumble regret. “Secrets” is my favorite track off of the San Francisco based artist The Bilinda Butchers regret, love, guilt, dreams.
Together we went . The duet between the secrets and the hollow we, who are abundant with the echoes of love and naivety. We wish hushed wishes, who are then quieted by the echoes of secrecy. In a house as hollow as we, abundant with miscellaneous things of no significance but their nooks and cavities in which we hide secret things.

“Crystal Tears” by The Bilinda Butchers // Goodbyes (2012)
San Francisco’s The Bilinda Butchers have been around for a couple of years now, producing a chill, electro tinged dream pop. On their new EP, “Goodbyes”, you get some more of that particular sound, but you also get something a little out of the ordinary in the form of “Crystal Tears” which plays out like a Washed Out meets M83 style electro-shoegaze dance track. The synths surge in and out over a steady dance beat and ominous guitars. The distant, hazy vocals are a nice tough, especially when the harmonies kick in. As much as I love hearing their dream pop sounds, I must say that I really enjoy the hell out of this more aggressive, synth pop sound. You can actually grab the entire EP now at Bandcamp at a Name-Your-Price fee. Highly recommended.
