#250: “As of 1976 in Greece, it cost $250 to get a telephone installed in a private residence and there was a four-year waiting list. The cost per call, however, is cheaper in Greece than in any other country in the world.”

Moot.

This factoid doesn’t really matter anymore since cell phones have emerged. Besides, while looking up prices for phone calls in other countries, Greece’s prices were about the same as any other European country.

As an aside, I think this one is something Louis picked up during his travels, so verifying if this was really true during the 1970s would be impossible unless I knew someone who was in Greece at that time.
