Sign upBUS RIDE STORY TIME- But this time, it made me tear up in a really good way...
So today was a pretty good day.
I think I passed my midterm, I got myself a delicious burrito for lunch/dinner, and my trip home on the subway was surprisingly tame. On the bus that always causes me trouble I stood near to the back doors, it was really loud and completely over crowded but I ignored all that and continued listening to music (I’m on a Depeche Mode trip.) That’s when someone tapped me on the side thigh area, but not in a creepy way, more like they were trying to get my attention. Turning around, and looking down, there was a very pretty (down right completely gorgeous) boy sitting with a big smile on his face; honestly this kid was basically the most gorgeous person on the bus. Taking out my headphones I was just in time to hear him say “‘m orry for tapping your thigh, I really like your key chain.”
Now for those of you who are wondering, this is what my keychain looks like-

It’s really really homosexually influenced as I’ve got a charm of Mercutio from Teahouse riding a unicorn naked with a bumpy dildo lance, a sleek metal Starfighter keychain, and of course my bottle cap opener from the Immortals… which is the only thing that isn’t out right gay (mmmmmm men crawling all over each other in skirts and thighs all over the place and just yum yum yum yum yum.)
BUT ANYWAYS- I smiled and said “No problem, and thank you… Do you know these…?” I was hesitant of course to say ‘You read the same sexy webcomics as I?’ because the bus was so crowded; normally I’m really not this gentle trust me. To my glee he responded with exactly what I wanted to hear. “Oh my fucking god of course I do!” So of course we talked my whole ride about just that.
Now what made me tear up is when we talked about how we both ride the bus, and we have both been harassed so much by assholes (to put it mildly); but more so to the point of the tears was his story that just struck me in the heart like a really well placed punch. As he explained it, a few years ago three guys on the bus were harassing him about being open with his sexuality (he wasn’t making out with his boyfriend, he was reading a gay anthology). When he got off the bus to walk the rest of the way home, they followed and beat the shit out of him, leaving him severely concussed on the side of the road. He didn’t even know what hit him. When he woke up in the hospital a few days later, his boyfriend (they’re still together today) got him to read Starfighter and Teahouse to feel better. I immediately related to him (for reasons,) and as I held back some tears we exchanged numbers/emails and promised to talk again soon.
Unfortunately I had to get off the bus not ten seconds later, but I’m glad I met him, and I’m glad we could share with each other some stories from our past.
Love,
Bendy
