how does manga go for 600 chapters

sometimes i wonder that

like DON’T BE THAT LONG MANGA YOU NEED TO STOP

it boggles my mind anyone could write one thing for that long

One Piece is the only manga that was able to maintain any quality at that length anyway right seems to be the general agreement

then I remember that comics go on approximately forever never ending with all the reboots forever

and yeah so I guess you win comics you’re still more ridiculous

Cracked usually churns out some good stuff, but this is freaking epic. The dictionary. Oh, the dictionary.

That’s as many as four tens.

And that’s terrible.

I NEED YOUR HELP NAMING MY GROUP.

One of my classes has a group research project, and they guys want us to have a name. A super cool name.

I just want it to reference superhero comics, but subtly so. So no to Wayne Industries.

One guy suggested ‘COLD FIRE’ but I’m partial to the Future Foundation.

THOUGHTS, HELP, IDEAS?

How I Think Superhero Comics Work

The dude’s name is Blood Guy, and he’s all muscly and grimaces a lot and is mean, but you can tell he’s the hero because he’s in spandex? He’s fighting the bad guy whose name is Sciencetar, and you know the bad guy’s the bad guy because science is really bad. And they’re going like,

“Blood Guy I am going to do a bad thing that’s basically equivalent to setting off a nuclear bomb. We’re calling it something different because people are used to nukes right, they’re not scary anymore.”

“I won’t let you set off that bomb! I will never let you set off another bomb - the way you set off my wife. By which I mean you killed her. I was trying to do that “mirroring” thing, with re-using your words for dramatic effect, but I fucked it up.”

“You cannot stop me! Misused Nietsche quote.”

“Is that why you do your evil deeds!?”

“Yes it is because of my inadequate understanding of Nietsche.”

“I am not done with superhero comics. I surely love me those heroes. But the next thing will take a little time. Past superhero series I’ve been involved with had too many captains trying to pilot one boat. Characters taken from me mid-story. Plots imposed from above, and then changed arbitrarily. That’s no way to tell any story well. So the next project will be one I create from the ground up and control fully. No more begging permission from distracted gatekeepers.”

Bill Willingham, on his future working on superhero comics for one of the “Big Two”. via The Beat. I’ve never been a fan of his work, but agree with the sentiment.

New Avengers 12: Powerloss (Bendis/Immonen)

I’m a big fan of Brian Bendis and this is a nice addition to the ongoing saga of the New Avengers, with good, character-based dialog (Bendis’s strength) and fun fight scenes (including one where our heroes have their power drained and have to struggle on in spite of that). A nice scene and dramatic art where Bobbi (Mockingbird) swoops in and saves the day.

I now have the New Avengers 4-12 in trade paperback, as well as most of the associated collections like Mighty Avengers, Dark Avengers… what a nerd.

Basic Instructions: The Superhero Comics

Scott Meyer does comics that are not about superheroes.  But I must confess to having an unhealthy love for the ones that are.  I mean, a genuinely unhealthy love.
