So it finally happened. I had wondered if I would ever get questioned…about Noah’s ethnicity.

Set the scene: I’m walking around Babies r Us trying to decide on baby food (1st foods 2nd foods make my own huh?) when I notice a lady keeps eyeballing me. I guess me glancing back at her have her the green light to approach me.

“Your son is so adorable!” She almost reached to touch him but snapped her hand back at the look I probably gave her. I just said thanks as this is usually when the random comments about Noah end…

…but she kept going.
“What’s he mixed with? He’s so light and all that curly hair.”

I’m thinking, wtf. But once again answered in what I think is a polite voice “Korean.”

“Oh really? He doesn’t look Asian. He doesn’t have white in him?”

Bitch. Didn’t I just say he’s half Korean?! Did you see my ass on Maury going “is this the father?” Maybe I should have answered, “There’s probably white in my family dating back to the time of slavery when one of my great grandmothers was raped by a white slave owner.”

Really what the hell? You want to debate my child’s ethnicity and paternity based on what YOU think a half Asian (and not all Asians look alike) baby should look like? And then came her last parting shot.

“I’ve always wanted an Asian baby.”
