The Victorian gentleman outfit was perfect for when that was exactly what he was: a sweet, gentle soul with a playful sense of wonder…but he’s becoming more and more the hardened soldier that will become the scarred veteran that is Nine, and it’s kind of nice to see him look the part.

I love and adore young Eight. He’s so sort of… innocent and sweet and cheerful and bouncy and exciteable. It’s adorable. And the velvet and the gentle colours and soft hair, it was perfect.
I mean look at this gloriousness.
Beautiful princess Eight. About as scary as a declawed kitten.
Grrr.
But somewhere around being possessed by antitime and getting exiled to the divergent universe, and then having to say goodbye to C’rizz and Charley… By the time he met Lucie, he was already rather bitter and hostile and intimidating much more of the time, and recent events haven’t exactly been kind on him. So the rough look is perfect. Even if we won’t get to see the actual Time War, we still know it’s coming.
Like Paul McGann is really good at making Eight scary in the best possible way in the audios. The growling, the quiet threats, the not-so-quiet threats, the deep-voiced shouting, the seductively evil murmering, and then omg the silky-voiced evillness of this is my favourite. But I could never really connect it visually. Now I can.
