Theory #5 - Spencer Killed Ali
I have always found Spencer suspicious since the very first episode. When the girls notice Ali is missing, Spencer comes in all calm and creepy saying “She’s gone”.
Then we find out that Spencer and Ali had a fight that night, where Spencer says to Ali “You’re already dead to me” …….. ALREADY? What does that mean Spencer? We also see that photo of Spencer’s shadow creeping up on Ali underneath the tree Ali died under. But we never find out what she was doing…..cause their fight was inside.
Also Marlene King said that red held a very important part in who is A ….nice sweater Spencer…. (;
Then there’s Spencer’s halloween costume. In the first Halloween episode, Spencer is Mary Queen of Scots. Fun fact! Mary Queen of Scots was found guilty of plotting to assasinate Queen Elizabeth I. The only way Mary could become queen was to kill Elizabeth. Who is now the “leader” of the group now that Ali is gone? Hmmm.
Then in 3x18 Spencer slips and sayd “Ali deserves whatever happens to her” then awkwardly changes it to “…happened…to her”. Slip up Spencer?
Spencer is the most determined to find out who A is. Maybe, just maybe, Spencer killed Ali, and she doesn’t remember. Trauma can cause partial retrograde amnesia. Or maybe she does remember!! And she’s just trying to point the finger in any direction but her own.
We all know that Spencer is good at hiding things (; She always won.
My Theory About Spencer Being on the -A team
SPOILER ALERT: THIS WILL DISCUSS THINGS IN 3X24 (A DANGEROUS GAME)
I was really shocked in tonight’s episode when Spencer pulled that black hoodie out of the pillow case and I’ve been sitting in my room wondering why would she be on the A team. Well this is my theory:
So remember last week’s episode when Mona went to visit Spencer in Radley? Mona brought up that she should’ve joined the A team and she wouldn’t in the state that she is in right now. Then Mona tells Spencer that she believes in second chances. So i’m guessing by saying “second chances” she meant that she’s asking Spencer to be on the A team again. Why would Mona want Spencer on the A team out of all the of the liars? Because Spencer is the smartest. I feel like without all the knowledge of Spencer the liars wouldn’t know as much. Mona starts to mention that Ali was never pregnant and that she has her diaries. Then, Mona tells Spencer she has the answers to questions that she hasn’t even thought of. Mona talks about the bits and pieces Spencer has and she says that Spencer is trying to put together the jigsaw puzzle, but she’s never even seen the picture on the box. Mona says to Spencer, “You need me, otherwise you’ll never even know anything for sure. ” We didn’t realize this last week because we didn’t think hard enough(well at least I didn’t), but Mona was persuading Spencer to be on the A team by telling her the advantages of joining her. So basically in this scene Mona is trying to get Spencer to join the A team, otherwise she’ll never truly know if things are true (Toby’s death). She’ll never figure out what actually happened to Ali, but if Spencer joins the A team she’ll know everything. So i’m guessing that in this scene Spencer joins the A team because she wants answers and she wants to know more, not because she wants to hurt the liars. If you realize the A team is only trying to break down the liars and Mona knew that without Spencer on the liars side it’ll just break them even more. I think that the A team set this whole thing up:
- Toby revealing to Spencer that he was A on purpose to make her mad
- Toby running away and disappearing for many weeks to make Spencer miss him even more
- Toby’s fake death to make Spencer regret that she didn’t look after him better, to break her apart, and to make her even more sad and to make her miss Toby even more
I think the A-team set that up so that in the end Spencer would join the A team just to figure out what happened to Toby/where he has been and to find answers.
Now for this week’s episode (3x23):
We figure out that Spencer was the one who actually kidnapped Malcolm and took him to the Carnival. I’m guessing that now that she’s on the A team she has to be taking orders from “Red Coat” (aka their leader). I’m also guessing that every order that she takes from “Red Coat” the more information she’ll find out about everything (Toby, Alison, etc.) In the end of the episode we see her pull out a black hoodie from her pillow case. She stares at it and holds it like she doesn’t want it, but then she hugs it (maybe telling herself that she has to be apart of the A team to know where Toby is because the hug can symbolize hugging Toby) . Then the part from last week’s episode where Mona and Spencer talk in the hospital comes up and it says, “Look at all that has happened since you turned me down in our little drive up the mountain, but I believe in second chances.” Spencer says, “You don’t have to ask me again Mona, i’m in.” So we can confirm that Spencer did join the A team during this scene last week.
What I don’t get is why when Mona says. “Look at all that has happened since you turned me down in our little drive up the mountain, but I believe in second chances.” to Spencer during 3x22 that Spencer gives Mona a different response in 3x23. I’m guessing that after the part that we saw between Spencer and Mona ended in 3x22 Spencer said, “You don’t have to ask me again Mona, i’m in.” because she wanted answers and she was tired of Mona repetitively asking her.
Now from 3x24 here’s what I think/know is going to happened
-The other liars will find out that Spencer is on the A team
-It is said that Spencer and Toby finally come to some sort of agreement so Toby is alive and I think Spencer finally figures out that Toby is alive, Spencer finds Toby, and they both agree to ditch the A team
-After Spencer ditches the A team, she finds red coat in the bathroom and red coat tries to persuade her to get back on the A team
-Mona is helping the liars figure out something (she’s probably giving them clues and tips about red coat/big a), but I think she ditches the A team also because she becomes frustrated and she wants to leave with Spencer and Toby
-Since there will be a fire, I think that red coat traps Spencer, Toby, Mona, and the liars in a fire out of anger that Spencer, Toby, and Mona left the A team
-Spencer, Toby, Mona, and the liars will escape the fire and put red coat in the fire trying to kill her, but he/she will appear to be A-L-I-V-E in season 4 hence the title (A is A-L-I-V-E for 4x01)

I'm still suspicious of Aria and Spencer being a part of the A team.
Spencer:
- She always tries really hard to make others look guilty. Once the idea has been placed, she is full force.
- Her sister is Melissa, and she is dating Toby. What if her and Toby are both a part of it?
- She was the one who was out when Ali was killed.
- In the title sequence, all the girls dart their eyes over at Spencer at the end.
- She has access to public records because of her mom being a lawyer.
- She seems to have the most flashbacks to Ali.
- Jason is her half-brother.
Aria:
- Nothing that bad has happened to Aria or Ezra.
- We saw a dark side when she threatened her father.
- Her name starts with A.
- She was wearing a black and red dress at the masquerade ball.
- She has unique eyes.
- She was last seen with the red coat, which was seen in the finale before this one when A visited Mona.
- The creepy chant Mona said at Radley about Aria being a killer, not Ezra’s wife.
I’m just sayin’.
This is a really out there theory but what if Spencer is the one who killed Ali? I heard that in the books, Spencer had the ability to black out on some memories that she didn’t want to remember and would remember them when she would be able to cope with it. This idea of ‘blacking out’ was also brought up in the show between Aria and her mom, Ella. Remember when someone (sorry I don’t remember who) brought up something about Garrett and it not being him, Spencer has a little bit of a mental breakdown in her room? That scene is never really explained to us either. Also, would it make sense for Spencer to be on the A Team? Her boyfriend is in it, there is an upside down A in her room, she is SO smart, and she is ALWAYS trying to figure out who A is. I don’t even know anymore.

Is Spencer on the A team ?
O.k so we found out last episode that Spencer agreed to be on the A team. She may be on the A team but i don’t think she is actually ON the A-team. If she was on the A team why would she be searching for clues about Mona when she could just find out herself. I think Spencer is just traumatized with the supposed death of Toby and now she is using the A team as a last resort to find out answers. I think the whole Toby being revealed as A was just part of a bigger plan in getting Spencer to join the A team. I really want to see Spencer in that hoody. I really doubt Spencer is actually evil because the A team members have reasons to hate the girls because they have been bullied and ridiculed by them but Spencer can’t hate the girls as she is one of them.
