the island remmet lives on is literally like just a huge hunk of dirt and trees and shit on his lusus’ back, which is a turtle. like the world turtle! except smaller. and in the ocean. yeah um. also rem fondly calls him galapagos (after the islands that are pretty famous for their tortoises)
so because the island is on his lusus’ back, it’s always been mobile. and because it’s mobile, not only has rem had to deal with the isolation that comes with living alone on an island that is usually floating around in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, he’s had to deal with people and places disappearing from his life just as soon as they come in. because every now and then turtledad might drift by some bay or something, but he’s not gonna stay there for longer than a day or two. basically, rem’s spent a majority of his life in solitude, with just enough social interaction sprinkled in to remind him what he’s missing out on
