“I slid my key in the door and we went in. 'I'll help you into the tub if you like, Sookie,' Eric offered. 'Oh, I don't think so.' A bath was what I wanted more than anything else in the world, that and to never put on these clothes again, but I sure wasn't taking a bath with Eric anywhere around. I'll bet you are a treat, naked,' Eric said, just to boost my spirits. ”

So I recently started reading the "Southern Vampire Mysteries" novels and right now I'm on book 4, "Dead to the World". But after seeing/reading all the negative comments about DEA and the ending of the series, I don't know if I should even continue reading them. Any thoughts/suggestions?

The reason I'm Team Eric

This part right here:

“Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink,” I said, and Eric laughed out loud. That was why I liked him, I thought rosily; he “got” me.

He gets her. I always liked that scene.

I’m just gonna say this… I’m happy I stopped reading the books.

i hate that charlaine harris named a character quinn.

Not only is he a douchebag, but I KEEP GETTING CONFUSED.

His name is John Quinn. Call him John or some shit.

Ugh.

“On the plus side, the editorial changes for DEAD EVER AFTER are completed, and the book is over ten pages longer. It's back on my editor's desk. On the minus side, I can now tell you that the Syfy deal for the Harper books is a no-go.”

—Charlaine Harris

Dead Ever After … what a complete waste of my time.

If that was how Charlaine Harris wanted to end it from the start, what were the 11 books inbetween for?!

Rushed, unsatisfactory, lacking in closure and rather dull.

(I left a much less harsh, more detailed review on goodreads but the more I remember about the previous books, the more angry I feel about this last book! and it’s tumblr so I’m allowed to rant!)

“He gathered me up like an armful of clothes and held me to him. I got his lovely suit jacket wet and snotty, and his pristine white shirt was spotless no more. 'Oh, I'm so sorry!" I held back and looked at his ensemble. i swabbed it with the scarf. 'Don't cry again,' he said hastily. 'Just don't start crying again, and I won't mind taking this to the cleaners. I won't even mind getting a whole new suit.' I thought it was pretty amusing that Eric, the dread master vampire, was afraid of weeping women. I sniggered through the residual sobs. ”

Club Dead (Alcide and Sookie)

“Weres are nothing if not loyal,” Alcide said.

I took his hand. “I know that.”
Alcide’s green eyes regarded me steadily.

“Debbie asked me to kill you,” he said.

For a moment I felt cold down to my bones. “What did you tell her back?” I asked, through stiff lips.

“I told her she could go fuck herself, excuse my language.”

“And how do you feel now?”

“Numb. Isn’t that stupid? I’m pulling her out of me by the roots though. I told you I would. I had to do it. It’s like being addicted to crack. She’s awful.”

I thought of Lorena. “Sometimes,” I said, and even to my own ears I sounded sad, “the bitch wins.”
