Teenage Fanclub: Songs from Northern Britain
I’ve been playing this game called Assassin’s Creed II lately. Basically, you go back in time and are this guy who has to defeat the evil Templar association as a highly athletic assassin in 1400’s Italy. It’s pretty good game, but I can’t get into because of the atrocious voice acting. It basically sounds like everybody’s doing a terrible Mario and Luigi impersonation. This was only hammered home when they actually had one of their characters say, “It’s me, Mario.” I think it might the first time I’ve wanted a game to be in a foreign language with English subtitles. That would go over really, really well I think, because I doubt the video game playing public would ever object to having to “read” a video game. This is why foreign, subtitled movies are always a good bet in the U.S. Seriously though, until we Americans can figure out how to feign an Italian accent without just adding an “eee” a “ahhh” at the end of every word, I think it’s the only way to go.
Also a good bet in the U.S. is Teenage Fanclub. I owe Tegan and Sara on this one, they were one of the obviously good bands out there that I had never given any real attention to. But then I started on Bandwagonesque and having been slowly picking up albums as I see them. Go and and get some.
