Why’s that? Most of the story I was just wondering what the hell was going on. It seemed a little weird at the time, sure.

It’s because AM was so fucking full of itself. It was playing with their moral compasses left and right. It’s highly open to interpretation to weather the narrator was religious before entering AM but he defiantly plays with the idea of there being a god (or rather God), pleading with it, snakily as it may be. But AM comes in and knows he’s still holding on to some shred of this theism and steps on it, jumps on it, and spits in its face by presenting itself as the burning bush, just as God did to Moses when he told him that he was the leader of his people. AND YOU KNOW WHAT PEOPLE THE NARRATOR HAS TO LEAD? NOBODY. AM killed them all. But, as Moses follows in God’s footsteps to become more godly, for lack of a beter term, the narrator follows in AM’s footsteps killing off the 4 people he was in charge of, self appointed, but it was hinted at with the burning bush.
