Okay, in the interest of procrastination if just tumblr searched things tagged “Nazi” since it’s the topic of my paper. Fuck, people are ass holes. I just saw a whole lot of pictures of people drawing swastikas on themselves. I can’t believe that people actually write pro-holocaust posts on their blogs. People saying things like “Hitler had it right!” and “Hitler is my hero!” This 15 year old idiot posted a swastika made of flowers and called it hipster. If I was this kid’s parent I would scream at him for being an ignorant little bastard until he cried. The swastika isn’t hipster, it’s a symbol of horrific things that took place recently enough to still personally affect people still living today. Shit like this makes me sick.
Interestingly enough, just after I posted this I got a reply from the kid who posted the “hipster” swastika. I had asked him why he posted something so violent and if he realized that it was completely disrespectful, inappropriate, and hateful. His reply? ”Die.”
And just to clarify…I am aware that the swastika has historically been used in Hinduism, but it differs from the Nazi symbol. Additionally, when accompanied by captions like “fuck yeah Hitler” I hardly think it is intended as a religious symbol.
