What your anon might be talking about is anytime people describe a character as being, for example, a 'Strong Female Character' (TM). In which case they're playing on the concept of trade mark and referring to the stereotype of whatever descriptor they're using. That's the only thing I can think of.

Oh ho. And now that I look at my recent posts (sorry I have a morning queue and sometimes forget what I’ve put in there), I see this post, which does refer to “Good People TM”.

I just overlooked it for the anon’s question because the OP wasn’t talking about ASOIAF/GOT fandom, but rather fandoms in general, where the tendency to love evil characters because they’re “more interesting/complicated” is very, very prevalent. While I personally tagged it with a few ASOIAF “good people (tm)”, in their case I think they were referring to Superman or characters like him, where it seems like the only way some writers can make him “interesting” is to drive him insane / turn him into a mass-murdering psycho etc etc. (See also: Mark Millar’s Wanted, Mark Millar’s initial Authority run, or anything by Mark Millar really.)
