When future Trunks revealed who his parents were, I basically had the same reaction as Goku (see below).  Then I went to whatever the search engine of the day was and typed something along the lines of “VEGETA AND BULMA HOW DID THIS HAPPEN.”  That is the story of how I discovered fanfiction.
