Sorry it took so long to get to this!

It was a simple coffeehouse. Clean, crisp, and casual. The sort you could find on seemingly every block back on Earth. But this wasn’t Earth. This was a trendy little nook in the wards on the Citadel. It was meant to draw on the nostalgia of homesick humans or cater to aliens with a taste for the blandly exotic.
Shepard wasn’t sure why she’d chosen this particular location to meet up with Liara. There were a million more exciting places on the Citadel alone. Countless quiet spots that would inspire just the right mood. Perhaps she’d become one of those homesick humans. Not that she’d ever had any particular attachment to Earth until the Reapers decided to try and wipe it from the face of the galaxy.
“Shepard.”
She hid her smile behind the heavy ceramic rim of her mug, pretending to sip at the piping hot contents. She hadn’t been aware how much she wanted this until that voice- warm but level, cultured- hit her ears. Even if it was a lie, Shepard craved something a bit more… domestic than the two of them were usually allowed. Mundane. No information brokering, no slaying Reapers. Just two women enjoying a warm cup of coffee on a quiet corner.
“Is it common practice for humans to get so dressed up for a couple of drinks together? You told me casual,” Liara chided.
Shepard put her untouched coffee back on the table and allowed her bright smile to show this time. She pushed her shoulders back slightly, accentuating the perilous plunge of her neckline. The black dress was brand new and had cost far more than so little fabric ever should. It was absolutely out of place but Shepard felt she could hardly be blamed. She hadn’t seen Liara for six months. When they’d finally met up again, they hadn’t exactly been in the best place to do some real catching up.
“Are you complaining? You could help me slip into something a bit more comfortable.”
It was an absolutely horrendous line but it was enough to color the young asari’s cheeks a deeper blue “What about coffee? You said with all the late nights I pull, I just had to get well acquainted with it.”
Shepard shrugged and shoved her mug aside. “I’ve decided I’d rather be the one to keep you up at all hours of the night.”
Galaxy
I posted this last year on my dA as an original fiction vignette, but honestly it was entirely inspired by Mass Effect so if I just change the name back to Liara it’s fanfiction. I found it on my laptop today and I still like it, so I thought I’d post it here.
It’s 3-4 pages double spaced, Liara T’Soni x FemShep
