people pointed out in one of the earlier asks that the girl character in the Croods doesn’t have any body hair and how that’s weird, and I think that’s a good point.

It’s like: even when it’s early human life being portrayed- and she has just been introduced to the concept of “shoes,” which she loves, cue the canned laughter- she somehow had a razor, and even though she was surrounded by absolutely no media or society per se, she decided to shave??

I’m not saying this is literally what happens to the character, of course, but I am saying how internalized the notion of no body hair= female is. It’s just the assumed design for all women throughout history unless they’re feminist caricatures. It’s not really possible to have a modern non-coercive choice in the manner when even a pre-historic girl can’t escape the standard.

I actually really want to see this movie now just because it seems to have a lot of red flags beyond this in the preview :P

What.the.fuck.

If you’re a dude telling women that it’s unhygienic for us to not shave while you’re standing there with an armpit full of hair, shag carpets for legs, a pelt on your ass, and the Forbidden Forest in your pants, do yourself a favor and shut the hell up. You’re embarrassing yourself.
