Seer of Hope

If doom is based around certainly (and, paradoxically, being able to change the context but not the actual events), and light is based around luck, probability, and illumination, hope is based around optimism and uncertainty. No, wait. Hear me out. I’m going somewhere with this.

If you are 100% certain something is going to happen, you don’t hope for it to happen. There’s no need, after all, you already know it’s going to happen. In order to hope for an outcome, there’s got to be at least a chance of other outcomes. Furthermore, the more sure you are that things are going to go well, the less important hope seems. It’s like a star - still there in the day, but overwhelmed by sunlight. When things are going badly, however, hope or the lack thereof can often be the difference between success and failure.

Seer of Hope powers work similarily. When things are going well, they seem small and insignificant, getting dwarfed by others and often seeming to disappear altogether. The worse things are going, however, the stronger they are.

Because ‘hope’ is such a nebulous term, the Seer of Hope powers are also somewhat nebulous. Basically, if there is any way possible to escape a bad situation, the Seer will see it, for as long as they themselves remain hopeful. They notice things others overlook, and feel tugs toward victory (or escape) that grow stronger and stronger the fewer options there are. When things are going well, and there’s many options that lead to a good end, the tugs are spread out over so many things as to be barely noticeable - but if your Seer of Hope suddenly starts telling your group to do something RIGHT NOW, it’s a good idea to listen, no matter how absurd it seems at the time. Hope’s not a good thing to neglect.

Seer of hope? :>

The Seer is a passive class. The seer understands their aspect and uses it to educate and help their teammates.

Hope symbolizes symbolizes faith and belief. Hope manifests as magical powers.

The Seer of Hope would be able to see and understand hope, this would give them the ability to know if there was hope in any situation. Although they are trying to be helpful the Seer of Hope would not have much tact, and would have no reservations when it comes to telling people they are wrong or have no chance at success. The Seer of Hope would be completely rooted in facts and would be able to detect the truth in any statement. The Seer of Hope’s understanding might manifest itself as the ability to see probabilities, and literally gauge exactly how much “hope” there is.

Can I have explanations for Knight of Light and Seer of Hope?

The Knight is an active class. The Knight protects their friends by weaponizing their aspect. Depending on the aspect this role may be reversed, and the knight might be required to protect their aspect instead.

The Light aspect symbolizes symbolizes fortune(luck) or fate. The Light aspect ties into but does not include sight, and knowledge. The light aspect manifests itself as physical light.

The Knight of Light would weaponize their good luck, allowing them to strike a critical hit with every attack, or to aim with extreme precision. At higher levels the Knight of Light would gain the ability to create mirages or temporarily blind their enemies through light-bending.

How would you imagine a Seer of Hope would function? As an inverse, what would you presume about a Mage of Hope?

The Hope aspect deals in physical manifestations of hope (it’s theorized that Eridan’s “white science” was a physical manifestation of hope) and also in figurative manifestations of hope. I would assume that as a Seer, one would only be dealing with hope in the figurative sense.

A Seer acts as sort of a guru of their group, by providing their teammates with the knowledge they are given.

A Seer of Hope is a very backwards idea, as Seers are all about knowledge, and Hope is an idea that has nothing to do with hard facts and knowledge, and more about faith. A Seer of Hope could possibly see potential hopeful outcomes, and share that with their teammates! An interesting idea is that a Seer might be able to tap into the power of the physical representation of Hope, and share if figuratively with their teammates, thus sharing hope.

Alternately, a Mage would actually have very similar abilities to a Seer. A Mage of Hope might also be able to tap into the power of Hope, but as we don’t know whether or not it’s active or passive, we can’t know if they would be inclined to share it! A Mage of Hope would also be able to feel/know about the lack of Hope! A mage is speculated to be able to see the bad outcomes in relation to their aspect, so perhaps their visions, instead of seeing hopeful outcomes like a Seer would, would be the outcomes that could come to pass if his teammates were left without hope!

Seer of Hope?

well, the seer is just that: a bit of a fortune teller! they are the orchestra for their team, and even though they may not be the “leader”, they do know all about their aspect, and use this to help their team move forward to win the game, just like rose did by looking at the most fortuitous path, as the seer of light!

hope is just that, hope and positive emotions and optimism and all of that. hope also has to do with belief. you can see this in eridan, the prince of hope, who destroyed the hope of his species’ reproduction. however!! kanaya also destroyed his belief in “white science”, by “debunking” it.

the seer of hope would be able to see optimism, and how to reach it. they could know what paths must be taken in order to reach the most hope-fulfilling goal, if you know what i mean. (sort of like a fortune teller, but more like, “oh, yes, if we do x y and z all of our hopes will be fulfilled.”) they might also be able to see different beliefs, either of their teammates, or of their consorts, or even of themselves.
