Madeline looked out the window as Kathleen fussed in her arms.  The toddler did not like carriage rides, and had long gotten bored of poking at the bows of her new frock.  ”I can’t believe it’s done,” she breathed to her husband as they rode out o the sea side village.

Jean had sent a missive five days hence announcing the completion of his house   He wanted his mother and father to come and see it (and also to give him a ride back to Paris for the nuptials as his money had gone to the home and wedding).  Madeline was both excited for his marriage, and despaired, for now it was real he was never coming back to the bosom of Rue Plumet.
