They go on to say that if you’re invited to a traditional Indian wedding and are requested to wear a sari, you should either refuse to wear one or just not go to the wedding altogether.

So, in other words: “Don’t mind those ignorant uneducated Indians who have been brainwashed by imperialism and can’t really think for themselves, and thus don’t go ballistic by the mere thought of a sari on your privileged white skin. I speak on behalf of all of them when i say that appropriation should offend them. They’re simple and unthinking victims of colonialism, but I know better”.

That’s a tad bit patronizing in my opinion.
