Q♔een of the Moon

Hello There! I am Ma. Reina Len Gomez Luna, half Filipino half Amazing. Kidding aside, I am one proud Filipina here. My pet name used to be ~~LenLen~~ but as I grow up only immediate family members are allowed to call me that. Nonetheless, I prefer to be called Rheinn.

Born in this world on May 14, 1992 exact year when the unforgettable Mt. Pinatubo erupted. My Mom is solely responsible for me having this name. As she narrates to me how she carefully thought of beautiful names to combine with starting of with Maria. My Mom and Grandma(My Mom’s mother) are devotees of Mama Mary and definitely having Maria for a name would be lovely. But then Mom decided to abbreviate ~~Maria~~ making it Ma. The reason? She just felt like it.

And now for my second name Reina Len, Oh well…the fact that I was born on May which is the month of Santacruzan, where in a religious-historical beauty pageant held in many cities, towns and even in small villages throughout the Philippines. Considered as one of the most colorful May-time festivals in the Philippines which depicts the finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena and her son Constantine.And that’s where Mom got her idea for my second name. Reyna Elena translated in Filipino but replacing “y” with an “i” making it Reina and removing some letters to Elena now turning it to Len. Also Mom likes that May is associated with flowers also known as Flores De Mayo, flores from Spanish flores or “flowers.” She compared me to a flower bud soon to blossom into one beautiful flower someday…

Guess what? I was able to portray Queen Helena in my Dad’s hometown in Sasmuan during the Santracruzan held last May 21st of this year. :)

And now for my middle name Gomez as well as my last name Luna which is formerly ~~De Luna~~ came from our Spanish Ancestors. Luna is also associated with the Latin name for moon or the Roman incarnation of Selene, a goddess and personified Moon in Greek Mythology.

So looking beyond my name, there really is a deeper meaning behind it. I can’t help but be amazed on how cunning Mom was when she thought of giving me such name. She really is meticulous I can say and up to now she wants only the best for us. And I would like to thank her as well as my equally beloved Granny for giving me this one lovely name. ♡
