Sam read Mercedes’ response and was already logged into his Skype account. Waiting for the little indicator saying she was on, he fidgeted with his hair. He knew it was ridiculous, because Mercedes didn’t care what he looked like, but he still wanted to look good for her. Pressing the button to call her, he waited with a smile on his face. Hoping that the loneliness of this week didn’t show on his face.

He wasn’t nervous. He had gone through his drawers maybe 6 times, give or take to look for the right thing to wear. It wasn’t like he had just separated an outfit an hour prior. Regardless of what anyone might think of him at this very moment, Sam Evans was not nervous. He looked at himself in the mirror and shuffled his hair around with his hands. He was nervous. The day didn’t start off exactly the way he wanted it. He was supposed to meet Mercedes for breakfast. The plans fell through when he remembered he needed to be at the butterfly conservatory in the early morning. Thankfully, Mercedes understood. Then, in a freak accident, his las pair of contacts fell in the sink, leaving him with no choice but to wear his glasses. It was a dreary, rainy, and gross evening in New York City. Sam hoped this was no indication of how the rest of his day would play out. He grabbed his keys and made his way over to the Johnny Rockets first Avenue.
