“O you who are patient! Bear a little more, just a little more remains.”

—Ibn al-Qayyim

“The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Whoever exerts himself to have patience and pushes himself, when he doesn’t think that he can be patient anymore, Allaah will grant him success and Allaah will make him patient because of his struggle. ”

—Source:Collected by Ahmad in his Musnad (3/12) from the narration of Aboo Sa’eed al-Khudree. It was also collected by al-Bukhaaree (1469) and Muslim (1089) with a longer wording.

Sabr (patience) and shukr (gratitude) go together. When you’re not patient, you start complaining. And the fact that you’re complaining is the sign that you’re not grateful.

“You cannot call yourself patient until you are willing and able to bear things that you have no wish to bear.”

Dr. Salman Al-Oadah

“Patience does not mean to passively endure. It means to be farsighted enough to trust the end result of a process. It means to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn. Impatience means to be shortsighted as to not able to see the outcome. The lovers of God never runs out of patience, for they know that time is needed for the crescent moon to become full.”

Be patient with others. Be patient with their small annoyances, with their behavior, with their speech, with their every being. Be patient with them. For your own sanity.
