“News today: Eero Saarinen's decommissioned TWA Terminal has been slated for conversion into a boutique hotel. Actually, from what I gather, the Port Authority's plan is to use the landmark terminal as the gateway to a separate hotel building that will be squeezed into the crescent of space between Saarinen's building and JetBlue's Terminal 5. It's a shame the Authority didn't do a better job incorporating the landmark building into Terminal 5 in the first place, but that ship has sailed plane has long since departed.”

On Saarinen
I’m impressed about how saarinen made an architecture that looks almost the same as some of today’s most innovative architecture. What interests me when I compare what saarinen did with what it is being done today is that it is quite easy to understand how the shapes relate to the analogical technology with which they were engineered. I think there’s a kind of beauty that is linked to this, let’s say, analogical process, since there’s a lot of effort in simplifying the technological and geometric aspects of spectacular forms.
