There’s a huge part of me that wonders what would’ve happened had Cas showed up in Dean’s room. I mean, Dean was pretty close to crying. And had Cas shown up what could he have said? I mean, really? 

Cas wasn’t going to consol or comfort Dean.

Obviously there’s something going on in heaven causing Cas to not want or nor be able to come down, but don’t tell me that Cas also has no idea how to deal with an emotional Dean. 

Maybe that’s why he hasn’t been showing up when Dean gets emotional.
