So I’m back from the best con weekend. I am so beyond glad that I ended up going after all. I mean I got to finally hug on Mike after knowing him for how long! And there were hugs for Nikki and Ashley as well who I had a blast hanging out with! Made some new friends too (Hi Meg!) and my Hipster TARDIS was a success pictures will go up later.
So, like I said, best weekend! I miss all of y’all already! We gotta chat soon!

TAG. YOU’RE IT. The rules are state 10 random facts about yourself. Then, go to your 10 favorite blogs and tell them they’re it.
1. My first-ever fandom was Jurassic Park. I was ten when it came out and I remember begging my parents to let me go see it in theaters. I had all the merch — the t-shirts, lunch box, novelization, junior novelization, trading cards, sticker book — even the plastic egg with the removable velociraptor baby inside. It made me want to be a paleontologist, and I actually considered applying to the University of Montana all throughout high school. Last week, my fiance took me to see the IMAX 3D release of the movie and I had pretty much the same reaction to it at 30 that I did when I was ten. It was awesome.
2. I live with a tolerable level of obsessive-compulsive disorder. I used to vacuum the carpets on a daily basis. I still clean my apartment every week, but I am much more relaxed about it. I also used to have a thing about odd numbers (which is why, when I used to be on Livejournal, I compulsively always had an even number of user icons. The extra space just destroyed me).
3. My most common recurring dream is the one where all my teeth fall out.
4. One time, at Comic-Con, Nathan Fillion said “hi” to me.
5. My favorite book of all time is Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley. I read it for the first time in graduate school and loved it. To me, it’s got everything: gothic horror, questions about God, about the soul, about what it means to be human. I saw the Benedict Cumberbatch/Jonny Lee Miller stage adaptation in 2010 and almost had to lie down in the aisle afterward because it was so amazing.
6. My favorite Classic!Era Doctor is Patrick Troughton.
7. I have a balloon phobia. When I was a kid, it seriously cramped my ability to enjoy birthday parties.
8. I have been trying to write a novel for the past three years; an experience which I roughly equate to slapping a dead trout against my keyboard.
9. I often think I would make a really awesome supervillain. In all actuality, I am probably only really good at singing all the Scar parts in “Be Prepared.”
10. I once had a dream that I was Tony Stark’s girlfriend and that he took me to a gala event, at which he made a speech telling the audience how lucky I should feel that I was his girlfriend. Dream!Kate did not refute his logic.

- i might have just squealed a little bit that you’re following me back
- i am left handed!
- i taught myself how to dance
- once my friend and i didn’t have any television to entertain a bunch of children so we reenacted the whole of sound of music FROM MEMORY
- the only bone i’ve broken was my left middle finger
- i chipped my tooth once and now i have a wonky lip
- i have taken my shirt off on stage in the name of performance
- i am allergic to soft serve icecream
- i was asked out on a date and said yes because the guy was dressed as dumbledore
- if i tilt my head just right and style my hair just so if you squint i apparently look a bit like keeley hawes (all ya’ll fuckin’ liars)
I’ve had an emotional roller coaster of a day, more downs than ups, but so it goes. I do have have amazing friends though who won’t abide by my poor attitude, and they’ve ordered me to make a post listing three nice things about myself. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, talking about myself is hardly my area, but I promised to try so here goes.
- I’m Loyal, fiercely so. There’s hardly anything I wouldn’t do for one of my loved ones.
- I’m caring. I love to look after and help others, like it’s my life mission or something.
- I’m determined. I may abandon the passing fancy, but I don’t give up easily when I actually care about something.
There we go, three nice things about myself. Yes I could always find a way to make these good qualities look like bad ones, but that would defeat the point. So, look at that, I managed to actually do it!

YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL! I want you to remember you’re sweet, nice, kind, and caring; I want you to know that you shouldn’t change, for anybody. You’re one of a kind, you’re YOU, you’re flawless, and even if you make mistakes, it’s okay, it shows that you’re human; stay strong and beautiful and pass this to the 10 people you think they deserve it.

TAG, you're it! The rules are to state ten random facts about yourself. Then send this to the fifteen nicest people on tumblr.
1. I have had cosmetic surgery, but probably not in the way that you’re thinking. (I had to have my earlobe stitched back together after one of my earrings ripped through it. The doctor was a cosmetic surgeon, thus, the “cosmetic surgery.”)
2. Sometimes I like to pretend that I am the Tony Stark of my workplace. Then I realize that nobody else probably thinks of me like that. I’m just not the hero type. (Clearly.)
3. I am allergic to cat dander and pine sap.
4. When I moved to a new house in the sixth grade, I developed an accent and spent an entire summer convincing some neighborhood kids that I was an exchange student from Adelaide, Australia.
5. Once I start reading a book it’s very difficult for me to walk away from it, even if I don’t like it. I feel like I just have to stick it out. (A lesson I probably learned from my parents, who made me continue to run track in sixth grade despite me wanting to quit after the first week because, in their eyes, I had “made a commitment.”)
6. If I had a choice, I’d rather be bitten by a werewolf than a vampire. Werewolves are more fun.
7. In college, I minored in Classical Culture. This has helped me in approximately .000000000003% of my adult life.
8. My ideal match-up for a Scientific Celebrity Death Match would be Nikola Tesla and Carl Sagan.
9. I am almost finished watching the first season of the revamped Battlestar Galactica series. That shit cray.
10. I am the only person on the planet who is not excited about The Great Gatsby.
