The following troll terms are organized by topic and alphabetized within each category. Please excuse my contrived grouping system. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, try CTRL+F.
There’s a lot of interpretation involved in this sort of project. The material below represents my best guess, which may not agree with the standard or popular understanding of these terms.
OOC: Pet Peeves about RPing Smut
Let me preface this with a few things: This is not meant to call out any specific people. These are things I’ve seen all over the place, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve slipped up and made these mistakes myself at some point. Also, this is not meant to be a “how to” for writing smut; it’s more of a “what not to do.” Finally, there are certain things that I can’t speak to from personal experience (for example, I don’t have a dick), and so I’ll mostly leave those things alone. Given the major preference for male/male relationships in this fandom, that limits my ability to talk about a lot of the smut that happens in the Sherlock fandom. But I’ll probably end up talking about it anyway.
Hahahaha, for a second there, I fooled myself into thinking that this is the only fandom where female characters get shafted (pun intended) because everyone’s aboard the slash train.
Anyway. Without further ado, here are my pet peeves about some of the smut that gets written on teh interwebz.
