Day 1: Favorite Autobot
It’s hard to pick one, but Ratchet manages to make my favorites list in every generation that I’m acquainted with.
G1: Always helpful and able to fix virtually any ailment. A bit sassy as well, especially if Ironhide is refusing repair. He works alongside Wheeljack and seems like he’s constantly fixing people up.
Shattered Glass: Terrifying mad scientist. Bots get sent to him when they’ve been injured as a form of punishment, and his ideas of “helping” usually involve replacing pieces of you with deadly weapons, with or without your permission.
TFA: Grumpy old medibot, the only one of the team that actually fought in the original war against the Decepticons. He’s initially rough towards everyone, but once you get under his mesh, he’s a big softy. There’s a lot of guilt there, too, for various reasons.
Prime: Similar to TFA in his age, cranky-ness and snark, and it’s completely evident that it all comes from experience. So loyal that it hurts. Blames himself whenever something happens that he can do nothing about, even when it isn’t his fault. He’s seen too many things go wrong in his long life to fail his team.
MTMTE: Old and experienced as hell. A bit short with those he’s impatient with and as clever as he is abrasive. Badass when he’s pushed to it, a wonderful mix of all previous Ratchets.
There’s just something about tragic medics that really gets me. Ratchet needs more hugs, even if most versions of him wouldn’t accept them. I really can’t express how much I love this guy, especially the last three.
Optimus needs to hug him and tell him that he’s done a great job.
