A (very) busy summer helping holidaymakers in France
With the European summer now behind us, we look back at a very busy holiday season which also paints a picture of the important role assistance companies play for holidaymakers.
In France, more than 600,000 people in difficulty were helped by Mondial Assistance during July/August, which resulted in the opening of more than 240,000 assistance files!
On its busiest day – Tuesday 16 August – our assistance platform made and received 32,700 phone calls to help customers.
The French love to holiday with their car, so it’s no surprise that more than 80% of all summer assistance cases handled were vehicle-related (202,500 assistance files), resulting in more than 136,000 vehicles requiring towing assistance! Add to this that more than 5,600 medical files were opened and 2,100 people required medical repatriation in France and overseas by Mondial Assistance and you will see how busy we have been!
And that’s just the France cases – we’re present in 27 other countries!!

Pop-A-Lock Guy REEKED of dank, and couldn't help change my tire.
So much for paying $20 a month for roadside assistance. He couldn’t help me because he needed the special jack and tools to get my specific spare tire down from under the truck bed. I’ve never heard of such a thing. He kept telling me it would have been in a little bag when I got the truck. I don’t recall such a bag. So, he leaves and I have a cry, then search my truck in case *maybe*, *somewhere* there is a bag of tools floating around my 5-year old truck.
No bag, but guess what? There’s a tidy little plastic well between the center console that houses -drumroll please- a special jack and tools to get down the spare.
I call the guy but he has to travel North and will be over an hour, so I said thanks, but no thanks. I’ll jsut call before work tomorrow. I guess I could even get Jeff or my father-in-law, or even Jason to take care of it for me, but dammit, I’m getting SOME use out of my OnStar!
Frustrated, but the upside to all of this is at least the spare is a full tire, and not a donut which means I can put off buying a tire for another week or two (Yeah, yeah I know I will need a spare for the spare ASAP!)
