Two nights passed now and Harper hadn’t been able to sleep through either of them. She had grabbed a few hours, here and there, but often she was jolted awake from fuzzy, incomplete nightmares. The sleeping pills from Julian had helped, but they left her with an empty sort of sleep and she didn’t feel very rested from it. She needs something natural, she thought. A trip to Crystal Blue, therefore, was in order. Some aromatherapy would help, she thought. And she wanted some of that natural pain balm for her feet, scabbed over and bruised. Sure she looked a wreck, Harper wandered into the cool, dim sanctum that was Crystal Blue. Pointedly, she avoided looking at the door that led to the backroom as she browsed through the incense and candles.

“Certain people have said that the world is like a calm pond, and that anytime a person does even the smallest thing, it is as if a stone has dropped into the pond, spreading circles of ripples further and further out, until the entire world has been changed by one tiny action.”
—Lemony Snicket, The Penultimate PerilriPpLe eFfeCt.
When we focus our own energy towards constructing a passionate, meaningful life, we are tossing a pebble into the world, creating a beautiful ripple effect of inspiration. When one person follows a dream, tries something new or takes a daring leap, everyone nearby feels that energy, and before too long they are making their own daring leaps and inspiring yet another circle.
