    sleep to dream

I’ve been having strange dreams where I recurrently lose my gold and sapphire ring that I’ve worn since I got it from Aunt Susie for my 16th birthday. I always find it on the floor right inside the door of my room in the dorm.

I wonder if I’m afraid of what I’ll leave behind in Rhode Island?

At least 100 dead in nightclub fire; another 135 injured.

Indoor pyrotechnics sparked a blaze in a packed nightclub in the Russian city of Perm early today that killed at least 102 people and injured 135, emergency ministry officials said.

Many of the victims succumbed to fumes or were trampled as partygoers stampeded toward the doors and jammed the exits of the Lame Horse nightclub, which was especially crowded because the establishment was celebrating its eighth anniversary, said Darya Kochneva, a spokeswoman for the regional office of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Security officials ruled out terrorism, blaming fountain-type indoor fireworks for igniting a low plastic ceiling decorated with twigs and wicker to make the interior resemble a countryside club.

Survivor Andrei Vaskin, who works as a dancer, said he saw the fire begin shortly after 1 a.m. as more than 200 people inside were warming up for a late-night show.

“I noticed rays of sparks from the fireworks reaching the ceiling and heard the first crackling sounds of fire from above, where the ceiling was.”

The lights suddenly went out and the club quickly filled with smoke, said Vaskin, 24, who managed to escape through a back kitchen.

Vaskin said he joined medics from 19 ambulances in pulling people from the building. But as the fumes and panic built, rescue efforts became more difficult.

People were falling on top of one another and being trampled, he said, and the club’s windows were too high to allow escape.

Vaskin said he realized he had to crouch low to avoid smoke as he tried to reach the injured.

“I took one girl, maybe 19, to the ambulance in my arms and was standing by to recover my breath as the medics inside the ambulance were applying artificial respiration,” Vaskin said. “They gave her a series of electric shocks, and then they just shook their heads and looked at me, saying she was dead.

“She must have died in my hands while I was carrying her to the ambulance,” he said.

Of about a dozen people he helped carry out, at least four died, he said.

Vera Yershova, 21, said she barely made it out of the club alive.

“Somebody hit me in the back with an elbow and I fell on the floor near the exit,” she recalled. “I rolled on the floor trying to get away from legs trampling me down.

“I fell almost at once and that must have saved me, because there was some air closer to the ground,” Yershova said. “It was pitch dark, everybody was screaming and pushing, and smoke was everywhere — just smoke, no fire that I could see.”

Then someone grabbed her hair and dragged her outside, where she sat gasping for air.

State television showed charred bodies lying in rows outside the club amid a light snow flurry.

Perm, a city of about 1 million people, is about 700 miles northeast of Moscow in the Ural Mountains.

Russia has been on edge since last week’s bombing of the prestigious Nevsky Express passenger train midway between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which killed 27 people. It was the first fatal terrorist attack outside Russia’s restive Caucasus republics since 2004. Chechen rebels claimed responsibility for the bombing.

A nightclub fire in the U.S. state of Rhode Island in 2003 killed 100 people after pyrotechnics used as a stage prop by the 1980s band Great White set ablaze soundproofing foam on the walls and ceiling.

This is why none of the venues I work at allow pyro. If you even mentioned using simple flashpots around most of the people I work with, they’d probably refuse to work events with you. After the Great White nightclub fire in Rhode Island, most venues not only won’t allow pyro by default, but won’t even entertain the idea, no matter how many fail safes an effect has.

Rhode island travel Seo Companies: Their Role In Website Advertisement Posted By: Raul Quiroga

Because of the increase in the demand for SEO services, various SEO companies are beginning to find their way in the market. In the United States there are SEO companies in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington. There are a total of 222 branches of SEO companies in the United States alone. All over the globe there are SEO companies in United States, United Kingdom, Antigua, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Vietnam and Yugoslavia.

The companies that offer SEO services vary in their approach to the problems that include SEO techniques, but with the same goal: to establish a high reputation site that will rank high among their competitors. All the companies that offer SEO services aim to make an environment wherein the pages have unique information which will be marked with high relevance and will be prioritized among their peers.

The market is a dynamic and changing system which involves end users who have an endless array of websites to choose from with generally the same core information within their pages. The pages may be presented in different ways and different layouts but the information they hold will always be the same if they are not strategically positioned and restructured to make them more viable and more interesting for the users.

Seeking information in the web may be a tedious process when the SEO companies are not given enough importance. SEO companies make sure that the contents of each page in the websites are able to offer more than what other companies can. The use of optimization techniques involve coding the pages in a way that the keywords they use are properly arranged. The keywords are made concise that leads search engines to find them easier. Having keywords that are straightforward will avoid misleading interpretation of the search engine, resulting to the pages only appearing for the subjects that are really related with them. The companies that utilize the use of SEO to qualify their websites are top-ranking and relevantly marked by search engines: the probability of having a high rank without considering SEO is low.

Rhode island travel How To Restore Your Home After A Flood Posted By: Andrew Stratton

Recovering from any natural disaster is difficult, time-consuming and emotional. Floods can leave a lot of damage, but for health reasons it is important to do everything the right way and not to cut any corners. Following these few tips will have you on your way to recovering from a flood.

Unwanted water poses a great threat to your home. Not only can it damage things that are important to you, but it can create mold and mildew and unwanted bacteria if left alone.

If your home has recently flooded, for whatever reason, it is important to clean up as necessary. You can either do it yourself or call a service to do it for you. If you choose to do it yourself, you will want to wear protective clothing like boots, gloves and goggles in order to keep yourself safe from any substances that are loose. Depending on the area of your home, you may want to wear a mask as well.

Things that cannot be saved or cleaned must be thrown away. This means mattresses, certain cushions, and also drywall and insulation. All of these things can harbor mold which can make you and those living with you very sick. After all soft things are thrown away; the next step is to begin cleaning hard surfaces.

Your counter tops, appliances, sinks and floors should all be cleaned very well. First, just water removal is important. After you’re removed what you can, you must clean with hot water and elbow grease. Making sure to be rid of all of the new germs is important to your health.

Before you use any electric appliance, make sure that it is safe to use. You wouldn’t want to be shocked or start a fire, so you’ll need to be sure that they were either unaffected or that they are dried completely. When everything is clean, you’ll need to use fans to aid in the drying process. Water can get trapped in a lot of places you wouldn’t think like between your walls, at any “seams” between your counters and your walls, and underneath carpet. There are special fans available for use to put in your home to help dry it out well.

If a service comes in for you, they will do all of these things as well. Make sure that you look around for prices because you don’t want to get suckered in to paying too much money for something that was out of your control. Your insurance might pay for cleanup, but either way it is necessary to research before just hiring someone.

Flood damage can be devastating and can feel impossible to recover from. After all of the cleanup and drying is done, stay on the lookout for any musty smells or signs of water damage as these will alert you to a problem before it can escalate. Once everything is done, you’ll find that you can get back to normal life. Even though it is hard to go through, you will recover.

Rhode island travel Mortgage Lenders Bailed Out By The U.s. Government Posted By: Ki Gray

Beginning October 2008 through October 2009, the U.S. Treasury Department has been bailing out U.S. banks. In efforts to undergird the economy, and stabilize the struggling institutions, over $200 billion has been paid out to over 600 mortgage lenders through the Treasury’s Capital Purchase Program.

Surprisingly, almost $71 billion has been paid back to the U.S. Treasury so far. That’s almost 36 percent of $200 billion being paid back by 41 different banks. Interestingly to note, almost 7 percent of the banks who borrowed federal money owed 36 percent of the government’s capital purchase.

Looking at the extensive list of all lenders included can make your head spin. Names like 1st Enterprise Bank, 1st FS Corp. and 1st Source Corporation start off the registry that progresses to a multitude of variations of Bancorp names, ending on Yadkin Valley Financial Corporation, York Traditions Bank and Zion Bancorporation.

The Freeport State Bank of Harper, Kansas received the lowest bailout in the amount of $301,000. It looks like CitiGroup Inc. and JP Morgan Chase & Co. of New York, along with Wells Fargo & Co. based in California, received the largest bailouts in the amount of $25 billion each. Out of the three lenders receiving the biggest bailouts, only JP Morgan Chase & Co. is noted as having paid anything back to the government. To the credit of JP Morgan Chase & Co., the group has repaid the entirety of the $25 billion borrowed.

Not surprisingly, lenders in New York State lead U.S. territory and states in the Union with $79.5 billion in bailout bucks. The ten states that top the list are:

    1.New York State - $79.5 billion
    2.North Carolina - $28.6
    3.California - $27.6 billion
    4.Pennsylvania - $9.4 billion
    5.Ohio - $7.65 billion
    6.Minnesota - $7 billion
    7.Georgia - $6.2 billion
    8.Illinois - $4.5 billion
    9.Virginia - $4.2 billion
    10.Connecticut - $3.8 billion

States in which lenders borrowed the least include the following bottom ten:

    1.Washington, D.C. - $6 million
    2.Wyoming (all in Buffalo) - $8.1 million
    3.Rhode Island - $31 million
    4.New Hampshire - $40.8 million
    5.New Mexico - $45.5 million
    6.Nebraska - $51.6 million
    7.Maine - $58.4 million
    8.Idaho - $81.7 million
    9.Arizona - $83 million
    10.North Dakota - $85.8 million

The following states and companies are in the top ten to have paid back bailout money in the amounts indicated:
    1.New York State — $51.7 billion
—JP Morgan Chase & Co. - $25 billion
—Goldman Sachs Group Inc. - $10 billion
    —Morgan Stanley - $10 billion
—American Express Company - $3.4 billion
—First Niagara Financial Group - $184 million
    —Signature Bank - $120 million
—Alliance Financial Corporation - $27 million
—Bank of New York Melon Corp. - $3 billion
    2.Minnesota - $7 billion
    —U.S. Bancorp - $6.6 billion
—TCF Financial Corp. - $361 million
    3.Virginia - $3.7 billion
—Capital One Financial Corp. - $3.55 billion
—First Community Bank Shares - $41.5 million
    4.North Carolina - $3.15 billion
    —BB&T Corp. - $3.13 billion
—Crescent Financial Corporation - $24.9 million
    5.Massachusetts - $2.1 billion
—State Street Corp. - $2 billion
—Independent Bank Corp. - $78 million
—Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc. - $40 million
    6.Illinois - $1.6 billion
—Northern Trust Corp. - $1.6 billion
    7.New Jersey - $397 million
—Valley National Bancorp - $300 million
—Sun Bancorp, Inc. - $89.3 million
—Somerset Hills Bancorp - $7.4 million
    8.California - $248 million
vCVB Financial Corp. - $130 million
    —Westamerica Bancorporation - $83.7 million
—Bank of Marin Bancorp - $28 million
—First ULB Corp. - $4.9 million
    —Manhattan Bancorp - $1.7 million
    9.Washington - $200 million
—Washington Federal Inc. - $200 million
    10.Texas - $200 million
—Sterling Bancshares, Inc. - $125 million
—Texas Capital Banchshares, Inc. - $75 million

Don’t let the numbers fool you. Just because a bank borrowed little doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a strong institution. On the contrary, it could be a smaller bank with shallower pockets. That should be even more cause for concern if the bank has not yet repaid borrowed bailout money to the government.

On the other hand, it should be encouraging if your bank is one of the lenders who landed in the top ten list of those who repaid their debt to the government. Also encouraging is that the $150 billion government bailout of the 1980s for the savings and loan debacle served the U.S. economy well. If history repeats itself, this will set the banks on track to overcome the current U.S. economic challenges.

Rhode island travel Hoodia Gordonii The Truth Without The Hype Posted By: Uchenna Ani-Okoye

First things first, hoodia gordonii is known in different names such as xhooba, Ghaap, khoba and hoodia cactus. Basically, hoodia godonii is a kind of cactus that is able to control and suppress one’s appetite and therefore promote immediate weight loss.

Believe it or not, television programs such as ABC, 60 Minutes and BBC have focused on hoodia in their news stories.

The hoodia gordonii is ordinarily sold as capsules, tea or in liquid form in those food health stores as well as thru the internet.

The hoodia gordonii plant is found in the deserts of Botswana, South Africa, Namibia as well as Angola.

Contrary to popular belief, hoodia is not a cactus but a kind of succulent.

Hoodia is composed of a flower that is coloured purple and could be harvested after five years. Though the hoodia plant consists of twenty types, the miscellany of hoodia gordonii is the one that possess the ability to suppress appetite.

The history of hoodia as a weight loss product

Hoodia was just described only recently as an effective product to aid in one’s weight loss. However, the Kalahari Bushmen have been eating it for centuries as a way to avert hunger as well as thirst to enable them to go on prolonged hunting adventures.

Hoodia was also used through them to alleviate any pain caused through tuberculosis, cramps, indigestion, haemorrhoids, diabetes and hypertension.

It was in the year 1937 when an anthropologist in Denmark studied the Bushmen and noted the effectiveness of hoodia.

However, it was only in the year 1963 when the scientists at CSIR or the Council for Industrial and Scientific Research actually began to study hoodia. The initial results were promising as animals were shown to have lost crucial weight just after ingesting hoodia.

It was only in the mid nineties when the scientists at South Africa worked with a company in Britain called Phytopharm and was able to isolate the ingredient active in the hoodia plant called steroidal glycoside.

This ingredient was renamed p57 and in the year 1995, it was officially licensed to the Phytopharm Company. So far, Phytopharm has been able to spend twenty million on research.

Another pharmaceutical company, specifically Pfizer, became interested in hoodia and decided to develop it as a drug.

It was in the year 1998 that Phytopharm licensed Pfizer the developing rights on the p57 ingredient for a whooping twenty one million dollars.

Currently however, the rights have long been returned to Phytopharm and are now collaborating with Unilever.

Basically, hoodia gordonii is effective and has been proven to clinically reduce one’s intake of calories as well as fat.

    Hoodia’s inner workings

Based on a research done at Rhode Island in Brown University, it was described that the glycosides steroidal found in hoodia is able to affect the brain’s nerve cells, specifically the hypothalamus, the area that is able to monitor one’s blood glucose.

What hoodia performs is that it is able to trick the brain to think that the torso has energy enough to not have to eat, eventually shutting down the mechanism of hunger in the body.

This effect was proven by a correspondent of 60 Minutes wherein she travelled all the way to the country of Africa in order to try to ingest hoodia.

When the correspondent ate hoodia, she found the taste similar to cucumber and lost the craving to drink and eat the whole day. She also felt no side effects like palpitations or indigestion.

In studies conducted on animals, hoodia was able to actually reduce one’s uptake of calories anywhere between thirty to fifty percent.

    Hoodia info online

Unfortunately, there is much hype whenever is comes to reading about hoodia online. False claims, inferior wares and over priced knock offs are rampant.

When you visit a hoodia site look for one whose product is 100% pure hoodia gordonii, has certification on its purity well documented and posted, and always contains a money backward warrantee. This way you know that what you purchase is actually exactly what you will get.

All in all, hoodia is difficult to plant and grow as it takes almost five years for the plant to actually mature in needed temperatures of 122F.
This makes the plant supply scarce and because there is high demand, the hoodia price is also high. Don’t purchase your hoodia through just comparing prices, you must compare ingredients.

If the site that you are looking at shows proof of purity and authenticity, discloses it is full ingredient listing and offers a full money backward warrantee you can be more confidant in your buy and that the info on the site is factual.

Marine from RI charged with painting racial slur | turnto10.com

BARRINGTON, R.I.—A 21-year-old Marine has pleaded no contest to charges he painted a racial slur at the entrance to an affordable housing development under construction in Barrington.

A police report says Christopher Gaito told an officer the development was lowering property values in the town.

    Okay.

    1. Barrington is an “affluent” town, which means it’s populated with snobs. That place is trying to be Newport and failing at it. How terrible that people want to afford to live there.
    2. You know what else lowers property values? Marines passed out drunk on the lawn.
    3. Apparently, a mere half can of beer got him to pass out drunk. His fellow servicemen are going to love that.
