Think about Rex Marksley.
As a child, he somehow manages to get a hold of a gun. He shoots up the pantry. His parents put him outside. He shoots the nails out of their fence and all their cows get away.
Now think about the line “His father cried; Rex Marksley, the finest marksman in the west.”
But read it like this: “His father cried.
Rex Marksley, the finest marksman in the west”
Doesn’t that make a lot more sense?
