revolutionaryhopes reblogged your link: Tiny Papercuts: oedipalopus: Also, Lefebvre pretty much grounded Debords thought,…

Stopped reading after the first few sentences, I’ll come back to it once you own up to the fact that you’re defending someone who thinks the SI called for the application of a gulag system against artists and who thinks the SI were statists.

Listen I hope you one day have a chance to learn about things like rhetoric, figural language, etc., because I think you’re taking things literally and then macho-bullshitting your way through disputes so you come out on top and you know politics is not a dick-measuring contest

@Anna and Ryan, totally just responded to both of you but it looks like tumblr ate it

Just why are you radicals, again?

It is fucking revolutionary to care about people. Not in a bleeding heart white savior give to charity liberal kind of way, but I mean actually. Inundated with a culture of isolation, looking past your television screen at your neighbors, at the people you pass on the street, that’s something capitalism doesn’t want you to do.

Because if you start talking to your neighbors, if you start building communities that really care for each other, you pose a threat. Look at history and all the ways governments have sought to divide the people to protect themselves. Coming together with others for a common goal, that’s the definition of a revolution. It’ll only work if we can actually fucking work together.

I don’t particularly harbor contempt for Debord. I do have a lot of contempt for the academic elitist fucking posturing that takes the place of meaningful discussion among leftists.

All of us little radikewls, we’ve made up our minds about each other, largely based on the spats between men who’ve been dead for decades and centuries. If we could set all those stupid fucking differences aside, save them for the post-revolution chaos, make a temporary truce in the name of right now is really shitty and together we have the power to fucking do something about it, god, it’d be so easy if not simple.

We’re focused on the revolution being clean and simple. It’s not going to be. We won’t all get our way and trying to verbally strong arm each other is a fucking waste of time.

We radikewls, we doe-eyed leftists, we’re not the enemies of the each other, and when we act like it we’re forgetting to be enemies of the State.

THE HUMAN BODY IS A LIBERAL MYTH

LIBERATE THE HUMAN BODY FROM THE PROFIT MOTIVE

Save yourself, let us die on the cross, you need not sacrifice yourself.

Tell them to prepare another one for me, the time is nigh

Revolutionary hopes
inculcated with our invocation
of old and visceral spirits
a feeling bigger than self
Jacobin rites
heart-blood bound in words
the human against the baseless
nothings over
even after the final epoch

Revolutionaryhopes is pretentious as fuck and probably one the biggest assholes I’ve seen on the internet.

And that takes a lot.

revolutionaryhopes said: sans-culottes would have provided better suggestions, I bet

As long as it was a happy mob of sans-culottes.

An angry mob of sans-culottes might not be the best medium of education.

Unless the lessen is “don’t fuck with sans-culottes.” Ha ha ha, oh I kill me

i just learned how to make basic gifs no one should trust me with anything more unless they want it to end in a horrible disaster

I’d end up giving Louis XVI six heads or something and that’s the opposite of what we’re looking for here

“But fiction is doing something that all political factions should be able to get behind. Beyond the local battles of the culture wars, virtually all storytelling, regardless of genre, increases society’s fund of empathy and reinforces an ethic of decency that is deeper than politics. . .one study showed that small children (age 4-6) who were exposed to a large number of children’s books and films had a significantly stronger ability to read the mental and emotional states of other people. ”

okay, I am actually loving this article

I mean, it could be correlation without causation, the article doesn’t go very deep into the studies, but it’s consistent with whatever else I know about fiction and storytelling.

(also, @Ryan, convinced you to read fiction yet?)

revolutionaryhopes replied to your postman i cleaned my room and did An homework and now…

“I never said ideology was dead, I was working off the notion that revolutionary theory is opposed to ideology, which is to say it is not ideology”

I thought the die trying bit was a bit excessive, rest of it was excellent.

Didn’t want to be too meager, but yes, thanks, I think the message was clear enough
