An Open Letter to all of God's Beloved Children
Whenever we feel insecure or down, we are sometimes unconsciously thinking that God is angry with us, or that He isn’t going to be there for us as much as He is with the people we know. We unconsciously nourish a mentality that God sports favoritism, and so we constantly look down on and compare ourselves to other Christians.
Well, beloved, let’s get this straight.
First, God is not angry with you. He is never going to get angry at you again. He loves you so much. You may fail sometimes, but He is patient with you. He sees you as His beloved child who is just learning to walk. He will always be there for you, not because He is obligated to, but because it gives Him great delight and joy to be your Father. He’s not angry with you, beloved. Jesus took and quenched that anger for sin more than 2,000 years ago because the Father loves you.
Second, God does not sport favoritism. His love is perfect and whole and so vast. He is God, and able to love each one of His children with the fullness of that love. Also, beloved, God loves you not because of anything that you have. He will not love you because of your good deeds, your accomplishments, or the kind of ministry that you have. He loves you because it is His decision to love you, and He doesn’t really take into account how much you succeed or fail, how many you share the Gospel to, or how long you pray. He loves you UNCONDITIONALLY. If the only reason He loves you is Himself, then there’s nothing you can do to add to or decrease that love. He will never have favorites. Be like a little child who knows that he’ll be able to enjoy his Father full love and attention whenever and wherever.
Lastly, God’s love will secure you. Even if you have this certain body size, this achievement, this job, this ministry, or these grades, you’ll never be secure if you don’t know and believe in and grow in God’s love for you. It’s time for you to bask in God’s perfect love for you, beloved. When you come face-to-face with that love, you’ll discover that it’s not just something abstract; God’s love isn’t just something that stays in your mind. It’s a love that is real in this reality, and God loves you and does practical and concrete things for you.
Beloved, you can witness God’s love for you. Just take hold of it, and apply it in all the days of your life— when you go to work or to school or even to the store. Your Father in heaven is as real as your earthly father. Don’t forget that, beloved. He accepts you and loves you and changes you. You’re a beloved and precious child of the living God walking here on this earth and it’s time for you to claim and experience your inheritance.
