This is totally a shot in the dark,

but, did anyone here happen to see Kyle Abraham’s “Radio Show” at the RedCat in October?

I know Sophie (i-saw-that-smile) did, anyone else?

never gonna get over how Ollie, Roy’s mentor couldn’t get through to him, Wally and Dick, his really good friends, couldn’t get through, Dinah, who is like family, or Jim, who is genetically the same person…

and Kaldur, his best friend on the surface world, wasn’t even there

but Jade could

I mean, I know from the comics that Roy Harper is like the best dad in DC and a really, really big part of that must have been Lian… but some of it must have been Jade

never getting over the way he says “ugh, not you, too” and immediately relaxes and lowers his bow

Jade/Roy is probably my second most fascinating relationship on the show, right after Jade/Artemis. I just… I would give anything to see how they became a couple or what on earth made them get married. he must have been going through things with Speedy and such and perhaps he lost his head a little and got mixed in with the wrong crowd or something, but… outright dating a villain (who I assume wasn’t retired then)? kinda far even for him, since it probably happened AT LEAST two years ago (I will fight anyone who tries to claim Lian is only a few months old on Valentine’s day; her back does not need to be supported as much as a newborn’s, she’s sitting and waving and clapping around, her bottom front teeth are coming out and she says her first word not that much later. Greg said she was born sometime in 2015. I’m going with, like, March at the latest. possibly even January. which means that Jade had to leave Roy sometime in 2014 ‘cause he didn’t know she was pregnant. and they were probably together for a while before that) and Ollie said “it’s worse than we thought” when Roy stole some of that money and that’s supposed to be his absolute lowest point.

I’ve read things about how they got together in the comics, but this is a very different universe where they both have different issues and they already had a thing going in season 1, so undercover falling in love is out, dare I say. they must have genuinely been drawn to each other for who they were, grittiness and all. And Jade fucking retired from being a criminal, something she seems to enjoy a whole lot (“that was just a… side benefit” “you eliminated the reason for your elimination, though not the… entertainment value”). I don’t know if it was for him or because of other circumstances, but… I JUST REALLY WANT TIMESKIP JADE/ROY IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR. I wanna know if they were ever happy. If they were ever not dysfunctional. if they ever trusted each other. if they loved each other. WHAT WOULD POSSESS THOSE FUCKING TWO TO GET MARRIED I DON’T UNDERSTAND. I just wanna knooooooow.

I want to know everything about them.

also never getting over the fact that they’re now “trying to make it work”

Cauleen Smith: Black Utopia LP (for Sun Ra)

“‘Her constellational approach to filmmaking parallels Sun Ra’s freestyle compositions and spiritual belief in the astral world, while reawakening the political possibilities of black experimental culture.’ —Art in America

Premiered at Chicago’s threewalls artspace, Black Utopia LP is a deeply original off-shoot of the years of research artist and filmmaker Cauleen Smith devoted to Afrofuturism—a cultural movement that mixes science fiction, fantasy, non-Western religion and Afrocentrism. Chicago legend Sun Ra (1914–93) and his Arkestra were a key figures in this movement. Smith produced over 800 35mm slides: images of objects found in archives, recorded in contemporary Chicago or appropriated from occult, astronomical, and historical sources. The slides are projected in a 90-minute performance to the sounds of both sides of an LP Smith recorded—a collage of lectures, rehearsals and live performances by Sun Ra, mundane ephemera, as well as commissioned contributions from Chicago artists Krista Franklin and Avery R. Young.
