For all you turtle owners out there

For the last year I have had people come and go from my life, but even as that happened there was one person I’ve never fought with, never yelled at, and never hated: Shamrock. Ok, so Shamrock isn’t the guy next door from Ireland, he’s my red eared slider. He is 8 inches in length, and he’s quite the handful. No, he doesn’t try and escape out of the house (although he does occasionally try to jump from his rock!) He’s a pig. I feed him twice a day, and as soon as he’s finished, he feels the need to attack the filter cartridges! 

Yeah, I know he’s a handful, but I love him. Nobody will ever understand the love I have for him except fellow turtle or fish owners. Turtles can’t cuddle, turtles can’t smile or bark, or play fetch or catch mice, but they are companions none the less. No matter what people say, they have a personality. Sham loves to listen to me play music (i play the violin) and will climb on his rock as soon as I start playing.  

No matter what people tell me, I love my turtle unconditionally.
