a quick song

flatsound

a quick song
I wrote you a quick song to say
I know you’re hurt but that’s okay
because everyone gets hurt
and everyone gets down
don’t let this world just throw you around
because I know how you get
and it scares me more than I’d like to admit

i can't be here anymore

flatsound

I can’t be here anymore
you said I can’t be here anymore
I can’t be around all these people
who all my life have tried to change me
if they could rearrange these
thoughts that drive me crazy

and I can’t hide who I am
it’s just so hard to be around everyone
when they’re so narrow minded
and I’m not the one who hides it
it’s just they’re so blinded

so I’m leaving the country
and when I come back
you may not accept me
but I will be happy
for the first time
in my whole life

Area Recordings Interview and 005 release!

The 6th and final track we unveil from the forthcoming Area Music Volume 1, 12” Double pack comes from the gruesome twosome that is - Fused Forces!

*Firstly can you tell those who don’t know, who is (Fused Forces) and where did the name come from?

Fused Forces is Ad & Dan, both from Essex. There’s no real deep meaning behind the name. We recorded a back to back mix back when we was about 14, and decided we should have a name. Dan came out with ‘Fused Forces’ and straight away it stuck!

Fast forward to the 2000’s when we first started producing together and we were like ‘yeah let’s roll with that!’

*How long have you been producing?

We started around 2003 ish altho seriously since about 06.

*Do you DJ or have plans to turn (Fused Forces) into a live show?

Yes for the minute we are just DJ’s (Playing across the U.K and Europe) Although who knows where the future may take us, we do really like the idea of a live show.

*Do you prefer performing or producing?

To be honest its hard to pick, Performing is more in the moment, but producing is more fulfilling. Being able to play our own productions to a crowd cements that its all about both.

*Where do you draw your influence from musically?

Absolutely anywhere! We listen to so much varied music, so we grab influences from all over the place. But coming from a Hip Hop and Drum ‘n’ Bass background they both have a large effect on our production.

*Do you tend to stick to producing with similar characteristics or do you like to produce different styles of music?

Up till the start of this year as our back catalog shows one release could vary greatly to the next, no holds barred. But lately, by making music we enjoyed and letting the creativity flow naturally,

we feel we have finally found our groove in the deeper and darker side of Dubstep. So we are pushing our flow in that direction now.

*What is your involvement with Area Recording?

This is our first release on Area, although we have been big supporters from the start of the label. So is nice to part of the camp.

*You have a forthcoming track on Area Recordings due, how do you feel about it?

Its great to be onboard with Area Recordings for this release! Some of the other artists both on this, and other Area Releases are close pals of ours! So its always nice to be associated musically together.

*How do you feel about the label being nominated for the best new label on this years DubStep Forum awards?

Its a very good look, and shows the label has a solid fanbase. Its a great boost for the label.

*Where do you see yourself and the label this time next year?

Well, hopefully our release on Area Recordings will both help promote us and the label to a different set of audiences. Continuing at this pace, we can only see Area Recordings moving onto bigger things next year!

We have two pretty extensive cd releases on the way, so this time next year were gonna be relaxing, enjoying the lack of deadlines,

and getting back to making music for fun!

*Who do you recommend keeping an eye out for?

Demon, Shreddex, Catacombs, Biome, DCult, Thelem, Killawatt, Blynk, Badklaat, Requake, Widowmaker.

*What artist and music are you listening to currently?

Jehst’s new album is getting cained on our stereos at the moment, as is the Random Axe album and Youngsta Rinse:14 CD. Also listening to alot of productions by Phaeleh, ARP 101, Madlib, Kryptic Minds, Truth, Ambassadeurs & V.I.V.E.K.

*Any last words?

Would like to say a massive big up to Area Recordings, and all the artists onboard. Watch out for our vocal mix CD called “Remain Unlabeled” dropping very soon and also our first album, released not too long afterwards.

Ten Notable Classical-Music Recordings of 2012

newyorker.com

Alex Ross rounds up 10 of the best classical music recordings released in 2012:

Here is a selection of notable classical releases from 2012, which may be of assistance as you seek the perfect gift for your decadent niece who worships Wagner. A few audio and video samples are embedded. Two of the selections—the “Winterreise” and the Vivaldi—were, in fact, released at the end of 2011, but they reached my desk too late to make last year’s list…
