“We are talking about making the world run better by making this data available.”

Audacity application by L’Embarras du Choix

Finally I’ve done something! Even if it took < 2 minutes.
As introduced in a previous post, these are the raw data files of Audacity as read by the music editing software, Audacity. I ignored the extraneous stuff, but this is the application file (runs the program) and the uninstall (wipes it from your hard drive).
I’m not even sure exactly what I think this means, but I figure it my first piece of recursive art! The (figurative) birth and death of a program, rendered in recursion.
Love Story
Its starts with eye contact you know thats real.
But it ends with a heart attack and prozac pills
And in the middle, theres photographs and kodak stills of both you smiling lying in a green grass field.
But how quick the sun sets on a perfect day. And how soon the clear skies die and turn to gray.
Cause when it comes to crashing, hugs of passion turn to drugs and tantrums and burn like tubs of acid.
Reacting by slamming holes in your walls. Now are your drunk as fuck opening stalls throwing up in the toilet.
You can avoid picturing each other on somebody elses mattress besides yours. Its sickening and its madness.
These 5 words none are safe from it. So dont be having trust, trust me hide everything in the safe from it.
Love can lift your burden and your pain or give you pain and burden. Turn a murderer to a sane and drive a sane to murder.
You think you know from the start that your loving was immaculate. Open up your heart just to have somebody shatter it.
Cause love only turns to hate, beliefs and faith. Only leads to cheating and deceitful grace.
When she says shes got a meeting and leaves your place, but shes really meeting her date at a meeting place.
And you can see it in her face. See grits so you creeping following a few steps behind and you see it.
Things get said, lives get ruined. Windows open up and clothes fly right through it.
When your wife finds your girlfriends lipstick container and youre left with the end of it written in papers.
Or you can stay married and let the love drift away. Divorce ten years later and drive your kids insane.
With this major crisis you haven’t had a good nights rest and satisfying sex since before this!
Cause when you get and lose someone your scared for life. And those times you remember are some awful nights.
How could it get this wrong from what you thought was right. Then you receive hollow sympathy and false advice.
And everythings a sad symphony in darken lights. Everything is mad empty and its hard to fight.
But depression teaches you one lesson before it leaves you. Maybe one night stands really are the best idea.
No commitment means no pain but without pain you gain nothing. But at least your brain functions sane.
Without a face stuck inside it. Wake up and fight it, make up your mind.
And if she likes Peter Gabriel then stand outside her window with a radio like Cusack do that till she wakes up and opens up her shades for you.
Loves hard to find, skip to the bottom line. Its even harder to forget and get it off your mind.
Raw Data: MAHOOSIVE Increase In Global Mobile Web Traffic. No-One's Surprised Though, Right?
![]()
So, Pingdom have released a new thing on global mobile web traffic and there’s some flipping massive increases in traffic on there, even though nothing at all about that is really a surprise to anyone.
Since I’m now in Oz, I note with interest that - despite having a ridiculous amount of folk on smartphones here, more per capita than any ‘Western’ nation - the proportion of all web traffic coming from mobiles is still lower than that of the UK. There might be something in there about Brits having longer commutes etc I guess, or maybe it’s just down to the fact that the networks down under are (ahem) “unpredictable” and that data costs real, actual money here.
Anyway, there’s a handy map chart above, plus some raw data, the headline numbers I’ve stuck below - but go read the full thing, there’s more numbers and analysis if you want it. I’m sure there are a million ways you could use these figures to back up whatever spurious caper you have in the works that relies on selling someone on the idea that mobile is, like, totally huge now.
