Critique: The filming itself was very good, awesome angles, some really artsy blurring and focusing, and the natural world of Thailand was breathtaking. The action was unbeatable (Rambo himself opens the action by shooting some bitches with a bow and arrow- raw as fuck), however it was extremely gory and at times the behavior of the Tatmadaw soldiers was nothing short of appalling. The movie is not for the faint of heart, for it wasn’t uncommon to see a limb flying across the screen (definitely not a dinner movie). The acting was pretty good, especially the hired mercenaries, but Sylvester Stallone himself was a bit too aged and the whole pedophile thing (with the leader of the Tatmadaw leader) was pointless and a bit sickening. However, the one thing that was really lacking was a strong plot, it seemed like it was quickly thrown together with little thought and a film isn’t complete without a strong central plot. But as a whole, Rambo IV was as thrilling as it gets and it definitely got my dad excited because right after the movie ended, he preceded to fight me. I told him I would cut him and he stopped.
