Formerly going under the moniker RTX, Jennifer Herrema et al have changed things about in style and name. Now known as Black Bananas the quintet’s debut album “Rad Times Express IV” is due for release on 31 January. The first single from said album is a dizzying combination of 80’s pop synths, crashing guitar licks and layers of cool fascination with the aesthetics of the period. You can almost hear a baseball cap being turned backwards and the laughing stomp of some Nike hi-tops.
From the moment the track opens the hook is impossible to escape, nor ignore. The track is awash with head-bobbing vitality and an appeal that can only result in one possible outcome: your complete obedience to the beat.
