about punk history

first, punk isn’t about “the working class,” that’s skinheads.

punk is rooted more in anger over the mistreatment of the lower class, but generally contains people of every class

punk is also a global counter-culture, meaning every country/region/ethnicity has it’s own “history of punk.” regularly non-white punks are overlooked, (despite the fact that the genre wasn’t originally created by white musicians,) and eastern punks are dismissed for having a different aesthetic and different reasons to rebel than their western sisters.

the common denominator is contempt for (generally corrupt) authority and a desire for sociopolitical and sometimes economic reform.
