It’s a shame that the Middle Eastern and Muslim community is not as accepting of therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists as they ought to be. Seeing one does not make you weak or inferior, it means that you are looking for a solution so that you can improve your life and keep moving forward. Psychologists vs. Techonlogy
A survey of 71 rural Illinois schools was based on the fact that rural psychologists have all these interactions and access to computers, yet they were unable to do many things on a computer. For instance less than 20% of school psychologists were able to use a listserv, Power Point, or statistical programs. They did know the basics of computers (e-mail, word processing, test scores and report writing). I am not saying that psychologists need to know how to do these things, but they obviously have earned a degree to get where they are today, so why did so few of them in this survey lack the computer skills that may be essential in their career? I found this article to be interesting and it does show how society is changing and technology will always get more advanced, so you must stick with it. In order to not be defeated by technology you need to study it or use it often so that you never fall behind the so-called ‘eight ball’.
