“One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time.”

—John Piper (add tumblr to that list)

“No learning can make up for the failure to pray. No earnestness, no diligence, no study, no gifts will supply its lack. ”

—E.M. Bounds

transforming your church

Currently reading “Transforming your church” by Mark Conner.  Not my usual style of book. Theologically I am not really in the same camp as him - though I am at times impressed with the way he deals with the Bible.

However, he poses 7 shifts that need to take place in the church which I agree with so far (having only read the first one).

The first shift is…

A power shift - from self to God

It is a shift from confidence in self to a greater dependence on God can be seen in what our attitude to prayer is. I was rebuked when I realised that whilst I have many people who I respect for their gifts & character, I struggle to think of people who are great model of prayerfulness to me.

I suspect I am not the only one in evangelical circles. I suspect I am not a great model of prayerfulness to others. A power shift needs to happen in evangelical circles. From self to God!
