Purity Ring has dropped another track from their sure to be white-hot debut album, “Shrines” and it might be the best taste yet. Over a chiming bit of percussion and soaring ethereal synths, they layer lovely vocals atop one another creating instantly memorable harmonies and a melody that will be stuck in my head for days. This late era resurgence of semi-trip-hop sounds from female artists is something that i’m especially excited about (see also Grimes, Keep Shelly in Athens), but for my money, Purity Ring is the band to watch and this song is exactly the reason why. It’s a damn near perfect pop records. Listen and listen again.
