We were eating breakfast earlier today in the ward, and there was a report on tv and I just so happened to hear the words “women are three times more likely to deliberately harm themselves than men”. They boy next to me said, “that’s strange, I’ve never really met a girl who harms herself”, to which I replied shyly, “you’ve met me”. A couple of seconds later he replied nervously, “well, you’ve met a guy”, and my heart just dropped.
