San Diego, CA: Valeria Munique Tachiquin, a 32-year old mother of five and a U.S. citizen, was shot and killed by a plainclothes Border Patrol agent last Friday afternoon in the City of Chula Vista.
On Monday, October 1st, Valeria’s father, Valentin Tachiquin, will give a statement at a press conference with local human rights activists from the American Friends Service Committee and Alliance San Diego.
The fatal incident occurred in a residential area in Chula Vista on Moss Street near Broadway.
Neighbors and eyewitnesses were shocked and feared for their safety when they saw a man shooting multiple times into the vehicle driven by Munique. The shooter was later identified as a plainclothes Border Patrol agent who was apparently serving a warrant in a nearby residence. Authorities have withheld his name.
The family states that Munique, a U.S. Citzen, was not the person Border Patrol was seeking.
The Border Patrol agent involved in the shooting was treated in a hospital but the extents of his injuries are unknown. Neighbors say they saw the plainclothes agent walking immediately after the incident.
“I want to know ‘why’? What caused the Border Patrol agent to shoot my daughter multiple times? My family wants answers, and we are seeking justice,” stated Valentin Tachiquin.
“There is a troubling and growing pattern of abuse and excessive use-of-force committed by Border Patrol agents; our community demands to know what led to such a brutal act by that plainclothes agent,” said Pedro Ríos, director of the American Friends Service Committee US Mexico Border Program.
This latest incidents comes at a time in which Border Patrol has been under fire by law makers who are calling for, “ a top-to-bottom review of CBP practices”.
“The Border Patrol continues to be an out of control agency that operates above the law,” said Christian Ramirez. “We need to continue to put pressure on Customs and Border Protection to call for transparency, accountability and justice.”
A candle light vigil is being organized for Monday afternoon at 6 p.m. with the family of Valeria Munique Tachiquin on the corner of Broadway and Moss Street near the location where the shooting took place.
So on Monday, a guy I went to middle school with was shot and killed by the cops. He apparently was trying to pass a “bad check” at a Wells Fargo, and so I’m not sure the cops were called by the bank or what, but two police officers “ran up on the car on foot, one in the front, one to the back” - according to a witness - but with “guns already drawn, and firing”. At the windshield. Where only heads are. The car reversed, so an officer was hit, and because of this, they’re saying he “ran down a cop”, and THAT is why he was shot.
No. Witnesses said at least 7 rounds were shot, and that they aimed at the windshield only. As a result, he, Joshua Omar Johnson, is dead. At 22. Like, for what? Another Black youth shot by a cop, and all they can do is paint him as a thug; they used a photo of him wearing baggy shorts, a polo, with money and “gang signs”. I find that so disrespectful, like you know you’re not going to garner empathy from the public doing that, and hyping up the “bad check” thing, which has no back story whatsoever beyond that.
And every one is commenting that it’s a good thing he’s dead; that police offers were doing their job; that he was a thug and got what was coming. I guess I’m a dunce for not realizing having a bad check, whether forgery/fraud or not, was worth being shot at, to death. It’s so fucking disgusting the mental backflips white people will do to justify a Black persons’ death. I knew this person. He was always cool to me when we were kids. I just hate that these cops are going to get away with this.
Rest in peace, Omar.

Neighbors Dispute Police Account of Shooting of Native Man in Seattle
April 03, 2013
Courtney Lewis lives in what had been until last month a pretty quiet Seattle neighborhood. Lewis’s home is a friendly place, where children in the neighborhood regularly gather to play. She has always been close to Henry Northwind, the Cree man who lives next door with his son, Jack. Over the three years they have lived there, Henry’s son, Jack Keewatinawin, became good friends with her son, Tino Lewis-Sosa. They often played video games together, or tossed a football around in the yard. Jack, who turned 21 in early February, had mental issues, but no one in the neighborhood had ever had a problem with him. Neighbors say the poor boy was “always scared” of the demons and ghosts that haunted him, but was never a threat to his friends and neighbors.

From our friend Guy:
This morning, at 4:57 am, Bellevue SWAT assassinated an unarmed man directly in front of my house by firing 23 rounds into his body with automatic assault weapons. My three sleeping children and my wife were less than five degrees from the line of fire.
