I was pretty upset last night but I think that keeping the good things in my life in mind, I feel “better” today. Now I guess I don’t have to worry about “offending” anyone if I have a Euro-style wedding with ONLY a maid of honour and then pages and flower girls. There will be some Kate Middleton shit up in here.
Oh, lol, my mom was apparently thinking like me and asked her mom right away and she said (according to my mom) that they *thought* I wouldn’t be able to make it and that’s why they didn’t ask. I better get a face-to-face explanation when I’m home because that is weak sauce. I know I’m “starting drama” by whining to my mom but she could have at least pretended to ask or something…What.Ever. I’ve got shit to read about 18th-century newspapers…
Terror Birds
Yesterday and today I did these doodles of Phorusrhacids, commonly known as terror birds. These aren’t any particular types, and they were drawn primarily from memory. The head crests were inspired by pictures of secretary birds, which are awesome.
I spent an annoying amount of time trying to figure out how to spell ‘squawk’. Some of my friend’s suggestions were:
-Sqwauk
-Squak
-Sqwak
ahhahhaa! omg. i have this kind of horrified laughter ‘cos i can imagine myself in the same situation.. whyyyyy!
I haven’t seen it yet, not sure I could make it through all of the second hand embarrassment

There are so many things about that movie (what the HELL was that ending?)…I had the chance to watch it on my flight over Christmas and I am so GLAD I didn’t. It would have been so creepy to be sitting there, watching all the dry humping with the person next to me silently judging me…
how are the new students?
They’re great! Our group is a little bigger than last semester’s because this time we have some kids from the Truman program and the Arizona program. They’re from all over and we’re all getting along very well. We are expecting a few more this weekend, so hopefully the general vibe will remain comfortable like it is right now. I’m very excited (as always) for a new semester of studying abroad.
Tonight we all pulled a movie night (Liz brought “Pitch Perfect” with her - a movie I really wanted to see but unfortunately missed in theaters because I was hanging out in the Motherland) and it’s already clear there are going to be many more fun times to come :)
